27 July 2025
We were delighted to learn that on 26 July 2025 Dr Aniva Lawrence and Dr Jason Tuhoe were awarded Distinguished Fellowship of The Royal New Zealand College of General Practitioners. This is a well-deserved recognition of their contributions to general practice and community health.
Aniva and Jason have been integral members of Te Rōpū Mātanga o Rangatahi, the group of Māori and Pasifika practitioners who led the development of Te Ūkaipō and continue to guide its implementation. Te Rōpū Mātanga o Rangatahi has ensured that Te Tiriti o Waitangi remains central to the mahi of the school based health services enhancement (SBHS) programme, with a strong focus on achieving equitable outcomes for rangatahi Māori.
We’ve been privileged to coordinate this rōpū as part of our work with Te Whatu Ora on the SBHS programme, and to collaborate with such talented and deeply committed individuals.
This recognition is yet another example of Aniva and Jason’s ongoing dedication to the health and wellbeing of their communities. Ngā mihi nui, kōrua—congratulations!
