We are a not-for-profit membership organisation open to youth health practitioners who have a passion to see all young people in Aotearoa thriving.
Te Kāhui Korowai Rangatahi – Youth Health Aotearoa is a not-for-profit, values-based organisation established in 2007 to support all those working within the youth health and development sector in Aotearoa.
Four goals guide our mahi:
To achieve these objectives, we prioritise engaging with and supporting kaimahi working in the youth health sector – and most importantly, the young people who will benefit from services that meet their needs and aspirations.
We are grateful that our kaumātua the late David Rawiri Wharemate (Ngāti Wai, Ngāti Moerewa, Ngāpuhi) gifted us our beautiful name Te Kāhui Korowai Rangatahi.
Kāhui refers to a group of leaders or elders, and korowai is a cloak symbolising protection and care. Together, the name speaks to a collective of leaders who nurture and protect rangatahi — guiding them with vision and purpose. Very fitting for us as a community of youth health leaders aspiring to work towards all rangatahi thriving.
Matua Rawiri also pointed us towards the challenge of Kingi Tawhiao Potatau te Wherowhero.
Ki te kahore he whakakitenga ka ngaro te iwi
Without foresight or vision the people will be lost
Our annual reports set out the outcomes that we are focused on, our achievements, and our financial statements.
