Māngai Whakatipu gathered for their last ā-tinana hui for the year in Tāmaki Makaurau - Auckland.
Members offered valuable feedback to a team from the Education Review Office on Relationship and Sexuality Education (RSE) in schools. ERO thanked them for their honest and comprehensive advice. Rangatahi slso joined Te Tatau Kitenga and Te Rōpū Mātanga o Rangatahi, the youth health workforce advisory groups to discuss the update of the 2014 National Youth Health Nursing Knowledge and Skills Framework - He Kōhanga Whakaruruhau The Youth Health Nursing Practice and Development Guide and to ensure it included the experiences and aspirations of young people.
We sadly farewelled our valued Māngai Whakatipu member Alena (pictured above) who had recently taken on the role of mentoring new members, the tuakana teina model used for Māngai Whakatipu over the past year. Alena then travelled to Brazil as part of her missionary mahi and we wish her all the very best in this service role.
With our support and funding from Te Whatu Ora these groups provide valuable advice to the School Based Health Services Enhancement Programme and other related initiatives in the health and education sector.
While contracts end on 30 June 2025, we will continue to stay connected with the rangatahi and the advisory groups.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your tireless work in 2024 supporting the health of rangatahi. This can be challenging work, especially at the moment, but we are stronger together and I believe both the workforce and young people can thrive if we continue to support one another.
